6hunesseq

6hunesseq („humidity“ in võro) is a unique-sounding band whose music is mainly characterised by curiosity. How does the organ and bowed lyre fit into the delicate and sensitive world of traditional sacred music? How did folk hymns speak to our ancestors and how did they develop them further at home?

According to the Estonian composer and folklore collector Cyrillus Kreek, these songs consisted mainly of „twirls, swirls and hooks“. How does this music inspire us to use our voices and find a new and intriguing symbiosis, a sizzling humidity?

6hunesseq won the Mooste Elohelü folk music arrangements festival’s grand prix in 2022. They were also awarded the prize of the festival’s patron Ingrid Rüütel and were voted favourite of the audience. They also performed in the official program of Viljandi Folk Festival 2022.
